As I have started my new job I have had to adjust some of how we plan things around here. I have returned to meal planning. The kids have also been taking more responsibility around the house. One of the areas I love to let them help out is with breakfast. That’s where this time saving oatmeal recipe comes into play. This is a great way to save you some time in the mornings.
Time Saving Oatmeal Recipe
I am not a huge fan of oatmeal packets from the store. I find that they are packed with so much and they end up being quite pricey. When I sat down to meal plan this week, I decided to try something new with our oatmeal and it is working great.
You will need:
42 oz container of quick oats
1 cup brown sugar
6 oz dried mixed berries
5 oz dried cranberries
Sealed Cereal Container
Directions
Add all ingredients to your cereal container.
Make sure your lid is on really well. (I may have not done this step and spilled half a container but who’s admitting that one..)
Shake to mix together well.
Put away for when you need it for breakfast.
In order to cook
For every 1/2 cup of mix you will want 1 cup of boiling water.
Boil your water.
Add to 1/2 cup of mix.
Stir and let sit for a minute. It should set up well and be delicious.
You can also make it in the microwave if you have a child who is better with cooking with the microwave.
