Stick Ornament Craft
DIY Stick Ornaments
I made my snowflake and love it but I know there was more I could do with these sticks so I started tinkering. Here are the directions for a few of the varieties I made.
What You Will Need:
- Sticks
- Twine
- Hot Glue Gun
- Buttons
- Ribbon
Snowflake Ornament Instructions
Start with making a cross. You want your thicker branches here. It just looks better.
Then lay an x over it. I hot glued each piece together so I didn’t have to fight with it later.
Wrap with Twine. Make sure to lead your twine up the back to make a loop to hang it. I glued the twine to the back of the top stick.
Add small pieces with your hot glue gun to make it more like a snowflake.
You can decorate these any way you want. I chose a simple bow with a heart button but you could probably do just about anything you want to these!
Reindeer Instructions
Choose a darker stick to make the face. You will want to make a triangle and glue at each corner.
For the antlers make sure to pick a stick that already has a v to it. It will help you make them look like antlers naturally. This will save you a lot of time. Glue them to the back.
Add a red button for the nose. I used a heart because the shape worked perfectly for the nose.
Cross Instructions
Make your cross and glue the two pieces together.
Start at the bottom and wrap with twine tightly. You will want to glue every once in a while to keep it tight and secure. Make sure to add a loop to hang it on the tree.
Making the Christmas Tree:
Start by making a triangle. You will want two longer pieces and one smaller one.
Use a small stick to make your trunk.
Use thinner twigs to make a cris crossing pattern. Glue on both sides so that it is secure.
Use your glue gun to add on buttons for ornaments or whatever other decoration you think it needs. The options are endless for this one.
T.A.R.D.I.S.
I didn’t know how this would turn out so I didn’t take pictures along the way. Basically, build yourself a T.A.R.D.I.S. out of your sticks and then wrap all but the windows in blue yarn.
This is a great craft that won’t cost you much at all. Have fun and come back and show me what you make.
