Pizza Lasagna Recipe
My kids are huge fans of pizza but they are also huge fans of lasagna. I decided to try something new and it’s a hit in this house for sure! This pizza lasagna recipe is delicious and perfect for meal planning. Even better, it freezes well and is an easy recipe for meal prep. It also packs up great for lunches.
Pizza Lasagna Recipe
**Disclaimer – This recipe makes 2 lasagnas or one really thickly layered lasagna.
Ingredients
2 boxes Oven Ready Lasagna
3 jars pizza sauce
1 container parmesan and romano shake cheese
2 bags shredded cheese (I used fiesta blend because it is less expensive but pick the cheese you like the best.)
2 pound pork sausage (You could substitute pepperoni and skip ground beef if you wanted. We can’t do pepperoni because my daughter is allergic to one of the ingredients.)
1 pound ground beef (You can substitute this with another pack of sausage if you would prefer.)
Pizza Lasagna Recipe
Mix together sausage and ground beef.
Brown the meat.
Line the bottom of your pan with a layer of lasagna noodles. A large pan holds 4 with one on the bottom like the one pictured above. A small loaf pan would hold two.
Add a layer of pizza sauce
Add a layer of your cooked meat.
Add a layer of parmesan shake cheese and shredded cheese.
From here you will repeat this process 3 more times.
For the top of your lasagna, you will want to layer with cheese and your meat mixture. – This will be your pizza topping so to speak so you will want to make sure you add your toppings like you would on a pizza.
Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
Slice to serve and enjoy.
Preparing your lasagna for the freezer
If you are wanting to save the lasagna for future meals, you can cook it and then freeze it. If you cooked a larger lasagna like the recipe above recommends, then you can break that lasagna into smaller portions to freeze for a work lunch or for family serving sizes for a dinner one night.
Cover with foil.
*** If you are freezing it, now is the time to freeze it. I like to write in sharpie what it is and what the directions are to cook it.
To cook, Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
