No Soak Slow Cooker 15 Bean Soup
No soak Slow Cooker 15 bean soup is the perfect use of a nice ham bone leftover. I love to use a ham bone for added flavor in my soups! Because I had a sweeter ham I had to offset that a bit with some of my seasonings. Your soup will taste different based on the ham you use. Check out my 15 bean soup slow cooker recipe.
Slow Cooker 15 Bean Soup
What you will need
- 1 Pack Bean Soup – You can buy it in the bean aisle of many grocery stores. My favorite one is the Hambeens Bean Soup.
- 1 Ham Bone or 1 Ham Steak – I recommend leaving some ham on it as it will break off and mix with your soup. (If you use a ham steak cube it.)
- Garlic Powder – I used about 3 pinches.
- Tobasco Sauce – 4 tablespoons.
- Lemon Juice – 1/4 Cup
- Water – 6 1/2 Cups (You can also do chicken broth if you would prefer.)
How to make ham and bean soup
Pour 6 1/2 Cups Water in the CrockPot. – This recipe yields a large batch of soup that will leave you with leftovers or be perfect for a large crowd! We love to have it o the second day as the flavors get even better!
Add Beans and Ham – It doesn’t matter which order these go into your crock pot.
Add 3 Tablespoons Tobasco and add the garlic. – I am big fan of adding more garlic than any recipe. If you feel the need to up the garlic, keep in mind that flavors will get stronger as the recipe cooks over time in your crock pot.
Cook on High for 4 hours. – You can also cook on low for 6-7 hours if you prefer a longer cook to account for work or a family day out.
Add 1/4 cup lemon juice, seasoning packet, and 1 tablespoon of tabasco sauce. – After the first 4 hours of cook time you will want to add these ingredients to give it another punch of flavor. If you don’t like spicy food, leave the Tabasco sauce out of this portion of the recipe.
Cook an additional 40 minutes on high. This will give these flavors a chance to mix in well without having them mixed in for too long.
Serve and enjoy.
We like to serve ours with some bread for dipping but the possibilities are endless. Even better, this recipe is pretty inexpensive if you are trying to save money.
