Mashed Potato Bar | 4 Recipes for an Awesome Mashtini
A mashed potato bar or a mashtini bar are the perfect option for a large get-together. One of our favorite things to do is a mashed potato bar. There’s just something about getting the chance to mix up some of your favorite flavors into something delicious. I have seen a lot of people recommend doing a mashtini. We don’t do those. I find that wine glasses hold the food better and distribute it more evenly. Let me share four of our favorite recipes.
Mashed Potato Station
You will have to tweak these recipes based on the size of the crowd you are cooking for. I tend to cook extra knowing that we can put some away for a future meal. I will typically do an entire day of meal planning with many of the ingredients here and then end the day with a mashed potato bar for the family.

Taco Mashtini
I know some will say “Tacos and mashed potatoes? Just no!” I felt the same way but I challenge you to give it a chance. These are actually really delicious!
Ingredients
Ground Beef – I recommend doing two pounds. (This will give you the chance to freeze some prepped meat for a future taco night.)
Taco Seasoning – I typically will use one pack for two pounds of meat.
Water – (Check the taco packet for the amount it requires.)
Making the taco meat
Brown your ground beef and then drain out all of the grease.
In a separate bowl, mix together your seasoning and water. (This helps you avoid clumps in your taco meat and gets the flavor spread out better.)
Making your layered mashed potatoes.
Layer mashed potatoes taco meat and cheese.
You can add sour cream or some of your other taco toppings to add some extra flavor to this if you are looking to add your own twist to this one.
Are you doing a mashed potato bar for a party or get-together? The cups pictured above are a dollar a piece at Wal-Mart. However, you can get plastic wine glasses or plastic cups and have just as much fun.
