Mary Poppins returns is coming soon. We saw the movie early and can’t release a review of any sort as we are still under embargo until 12/12. That said, there was a scene in the movie that was a callback to the old movie. A simple container of sweets on a desk that get stuck in your teeth. When I heard this mentioned, I knew I had to make this Mary Poppins Returns craft!

Making your Mary Poppins Returns craft
Place your printable in the jar. – I used a small washrag to push it towards the glass. You will want it to rest fairly close to the glass as this is how you will draw your template.
Use your marker to trace the outline. – You do not need every detail. Make sure to trace the outline and any area where the colors are different such as the black and white portions.
Outline your white portions in white paint. – Make sure to keep your lines small and clean to make it easier to paint the rest.
Fill in the white portions completely. – You may need more than one coat to get the white you like.
Using a separate paint brush, outline all of the black portions with your black paint.
Fill in your black
Mix white and black paint to make grey.
Fill in the towel with your grey.
Use your black paint to outline the towel and add a small accent to it.
Use orange to fill in the beak and feet.
Add all your accents. This will include outlining the penguin and the eyes.
Put your word sweets in your jar for your template. – If you are incredible at free hand writing, you can skip this step. I am not so a template is the trick.
Trace the words in marker.
Paint the word sweets on your jar.
Paint your lid pieces black.
Let dry for 24 hours.
You can seal this with mod podge or by baking it if you can do it safely. I haven’t learned this process yet and didn’t want to crack my jar in the oven.
Fill your jar with chewy candy or use it for any sweets you like!
