The holidays are upon us and with them come all the sweet treats you can eat. With food allergies, many old favorites aren’t as easy to enjoy. When one of my Instagram followers suggested a chocolate cream pie as a holiday favorite, I decided I had to try it! I needed to take her holiday favorite and add an allergy friendly spin to it though. That’s where this chocolate cream pie recipe that is gluten-free, dairy-free, and egg-free came from!
Chocolate Cream Pie Recipe
Some of the ingredients may not be easy to find in all markets. Substitute with allergy friendly products as needed in order to accommodate your dietary needs. It is also important to look at ingredients on any of these items to make sure they continue to be allergy-friendly.
Allergy Friendly Chocolate Cream Pie Ingredients
1 Package Glutino Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
1 Package Gluten Free Vegan Chocolate Pudding Mix
2 tablespoons vegan butter
1 Container of SoDelicious Coco Whip
1 1/2 cups almond milk
1 Pie Pan
Making Allergy-friendly Chocolate Cream Pie
Add pudding mix, almond milk, and cocowhip to a large bowl.
Using a hand mixer, mix on medium for 2 minutes.
Refrigerate for 20 minutes.
Place 2/3 of the cookies from the package in a bag and crush them using a rolling pin.
Set the crushed cookies aside.
In a medium pan melt the butter.
Mix melted butter with crushed cookies and line the bottom of your pie pan.
Put pie crust in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
When cooled, spread the pudding mixture into your pie pan and refrigerate overnight.
Add whipped cream to the edges of your pie from the can.
Add cookies to the center of the pie.
You can serve at this point and enjoy.
Freezing the Chocolate Cream Pie
This pie is also delicious when frozen. After you have added the cookies and whipped cream, place in the freezer for a minimum of an hour. Serve and enjoy! (If your pie is too hard to cut, let thaw for 5 minutes to soften.)
