Into The Woods in Theaters! – Amazing!!!

All opinions are 100% my own. I did receive two tickets to preview this film. However, I was not paid for my review.

Recently I attended the pre-screening of Into The Woods and I was blown away. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from the film. After watching the trailer below I wasn’t sure if this would be a goofy film or if it would be something that would sit well with me.

I decided to take the risk and I am so glad I did!

Into The Woods takes some of your most popular stories from Jack and Beanstalk to Peter Pan and weaves them together into an unforgettable musical. Into The Woods challenges the characters to ask, “What is it really worth? How bad do I really want this wish?” As you follow their journey you find yourself wondering what you would do in their shoes. What price would you pay?

Another beautiful thing about this movie is the fact that it answers some of the questions you always asked. Why would a boy take beans for a cow? How does a girl lose her nice shoe running down the stairs?

Why did Little Red Riding Hood talk to the wolf at all?

How did Rapunzel avoid hurting her head letting people up that tower?

All of these questions have always bothered me and I love that Into The Woods takes the time to answer each one.

While some of this movie is light and fun there is a dark side to it. As you watch you start to understand the emotions and the motivations behind different choices. Don’t be surprised if you need a tissue at some point. I know this highly emotional moment had me wiping away tears.

Get your tickets now!
I highly recommend this movie. In fact, I want the soundtrack so that the experience doesn’t have to stop with the end credits.
Make sure to get your tickets to Into The Woods now. I have a feeling it will be a very popular movie!

Big Hero 6 – This movie made STEM cool again!

I was not paid for this review. All opinions are 100% my own. I did receive media passes for myself and my family to screen this movie.

If you are ready to let Frozen go you won’t want to miss Disney’s newest movie! Big Hero 6 comes out today. As a family we went to a prescreening this week. I have to tell you I am in love with Baymax!

What’s it about?

From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” comes “Big Hero 6,” an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter). When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller). Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.”
Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring breathtaking action with all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”), and produced by Roy Conli (“Tangled”). The film hits theaters in 3D on Nov. 7, 2014.
On to the review!
I went in to this movie very hopeful. I love Frozen. I really do but it was time to move on. I needed a new Disney movie that would capture the interest of both of my children. I also wanted something that my boy could enjoy. He is not a Frozen fan in the least.

I was not disappointed at all. This movie was the perfect mix of funny and fun. Not only did it keep our interest but this is the first movie my five year old has ever refused a bathroom break for. He didn’t want to miss anything.

One of the things I really loved about this movie was it’s focus on Science. This movie essentially made Science and Science related jobs look very exciting for children. Big Hero 6 could get kids thinking STEM who weren’t and I am 100% behind that.
Be ready though, this movie will reinvent the fist bump for you. I think you will be better for it though.
It’s time to get your tickets!

Million Dollar Arm Movie Review

May 16 by Meagan Leave a Comment

This month the hubby and I found a sitter, (thanks Alyssa!) and went to the early screening of Disney’s Million Dollar Arm!  We have missed out on quality time for just the two of us. When the invite hit my e-mail I knew that I had to take hubby to this one. My husband and I started talking during baseball season. In fact, we watched the World Series while on the phone together before we ever met in person.

What is Million Dollar Arm about?

Based on a true story, sports agent JB Bernstein (Jon Hamm) finds that business has changed and things aren’t going well for his career. In a last ditch effort to save his livelihood he concocts a scheme to find baseball’s next great pitching ace. Hoping to find a young cricket pitcher he can turn into a major league baseball star, JB travels to India to produce a reality show competition called “The Million Dollar Arm.” With the help of cantankerous but eagle-eyed retired baseball scout Ray Poitevint (Alan Arkin), he discovers Dinesh (played by Madhur Mittal from “Slumdog Millionaire”) and Rinku (played by Suraj Sharma from “Life of Pi”), two 18 year old boys who have no idea about playing baseball, yet have a knack for throwing a fastball. Hoping to sign them to major league contracts and make a quick buck, JB brings the boys home to America to train. While the Americans are definitely out of their element in India — the boys, who have never left their rural villages — are equally challenged when they come to the States. As the boys learn the finer points of baseball — JB, with the help of his charming friend Brenda (Lake Bell) — learns valuable life lessons about teamwork, commitment and what it means to be a family.
What did I think of it?
This movie was fantastic! I would sum this movie up in one line, “see what difference hope can make for a dream.” The story line was adapted well from film. I found myself in India and laughed constantly at some of the experiences. Let’s be honest, the mom in me cried on more than one occasion. I was also very impressed with the actors chosen for this film. They were right on point! For the time I was in the theater I genuinely believed I was there with them and I wanted them to succeed more than anything. I highly recommend this movie to any baseball fan.
What did the hubby think?
In true man fashion he says, “Loved it,” and “it was a heck of a lot funnier than I expected.” Also he adds that “Jon Hamm’s portrayal of the real life agent was very believable. To me it was a cross between Rudy and Jerry Macguire.”
Don’t believe us about it though! See it for yourself! You won’t be disappointed.
