DIY Baseball Washer Necklaces
DIY Baseball washer necklaces make an awesome father’s day gift too! My little guy has been enjoying t-ball this year. It has been a wonderful first year for him and he is finally coming into his own. In fact, last week he hit his first home run. I wanted to do something special for the coaches and for his team so I put together these DIY Baseball washer necklaces for the boys and key chains for the coaches. Are you looking for something to do for your team? I have put together a simple tutorial for you so that you can make your own.
Baseball Jewelry Gift
You will need:
– Fender Washers – I picked mine up at Lowes for 14 cents each. Make sure to get one that is smooth and has a smaller hole in the center.
– Rust-Oleum White Satin Enamel Spray – Make sure to go with this brand because it is best for metal.
– Rust-Oleum Clear Coat Enamel
– Black Sharpie
– Red Sharpie
– Black Ribbon – (If making the necklace) The amount will depend on the number of necklaces you hope to make.
– Leather Strips – (If making the key chain)
– Key ring – (If making the key chain)
What to do:
Start by laying out your washers on a sheet of newspaper. –
This will keep you from spray painting your driveway or other areas in your yard.
Hold the can at least 12 inches away and spray all washers. –
I suggest only spraying them once. If you spray them more than once before drying your spray paint will clump.
Let dry for a minimum of 4 hours.
Spray the other side of the washers and let dry for a minimum of 4 hours. –
You can do less but this ensures that the paint is completely dry.
Using your Red Sharpie –
Make your curves for your baseball threading.
Add your lines.
Using your Black Sharpie –
Write your names on the bottom of the washer. Do not write it on top as this will be covered by the ribbon.
Seal with Clear Coat – You will need to hold the spray can a minimum of 12 inches away from the washers. If you hold it closer the color will come off. Make sure to only spray once and make sure they are laying flat when you spray them.
Let dry for 4 hours and add ribbon for the necklace.
For the key chain you will want to loop your leather onto your key chain first and then connect it to the washer. I twisted the remaining leather and knotted it in the back.
These would also make a great gift for a baseball-loving Dad for Father’s Day. You could easily put a team name or write #1 Dad on the bottom.
