10 Great History Fiction Books for Kids
As a child I could not bring myself to love History. It probably had a lot to do with the fact that it involved memorization of lots of dates and names without the fun of the stories behind them. Because of this, I am trying to make History more fun for my children. We have found a treasure trove of great History fiction books at our local library that I would love to share with you.
History Fiction Books for Kids
Some of these books will be filled with more facts than others. However, they are all great stories to peak your child’s interest in a time period in History and get them asking the questions that lead to learning.
Brothers at Bat: The True Story of an Amazing All-Brother Baseball Team – This was a great book based on a true story.
Leonardo and the Flying Boy – This was such a great book we even put together a small unit study to go with it. You can get that free here.
Magnus at the Fire – We learned a lot from this book. I never knew that horses used to pull fire trucks. Check it out.
Titanicat (True Stories) – We really enjoyed this book! There was a great combination of fact and story.
George Washington’s Teeth – We learned a lot about George Washington and his lack of teeth.

This is a graphic novel of a historic event. I am pretty sure you can’t
beat that! The kids loved this book and begged me to re-read it.
